Windows 7's general availability release date is October 22nd.  Prior to this, Windows 7's usage share has steadily increased to over 2% globally.  This report tracks the daily usage share of Windows 7.

Windows 7 Already Gaining Widespread 'Adoption' in Eastern Europe
